Background
Nic Smith was born and raised in Erie County, Ohio, and has remained deeply connected to the local community throughout his life and career. He is a proud 1997 graduate of Saint Mary’s Catholic School. In 2001, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kent State University before going on to receive his Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2005. During law school, Nic served as an Assistant and Associate Editor for the Cleveland State Law Review, gaining valuable experience in legal research and writing.
Nic began practicing law in 2005 alongside his father, William H. Smith, Jr. (retired 2021), at the family firm, Smith & Lehrer Co., L.P.A. He also spent time working with the Erie County Prosecutor’s Office, where he gained additional insight into the public sector side of the legal system.
In addition to his legal practice, Nic has served the community in various professional roles, including as a Board Member of the Erie County Board of Elections and as Bar Counsel for the Erie-Huron-Ottawa Grievance Committee. In 2025, Nic will begin a new chapter of public service as Erie County Recorder, having been elected to the position in 2024.
Outside the office, Nic enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their two beloved dogs—who are known to make the occasional appearance at the office. He values family, community, and the opportunity to help clients navigate their legal needs with integrity and care.

Sam Sidoti is a native of Sandusky, Ohio, and a proud graduate of Sandusky Central Catholic School. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University, where he also gained valuable professional experience as an intern with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL.
Following his time at BGSU, Sam earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. While in law school, he interned with the City of Toledo Prosecutor’s Office and was an active member of the Moot Court Team, competing in international and national competitions in Vienna, Austria, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
After passing the bar, Sam began his legal career as an Associate Attorney at Smith & Lehrer Co., L.P.A., and served for several years as an Assistant Prosecutor for Erie County. In 2022, he became a founding partner of Smith & Sidoti, LLC, continuing his commitment to providing dedicated legal service to individuals and families throughout the region.
Sam lives in Sandusky with his wife and their three children. He is proud to work in the community he calls home, offering practical, results-focused representation backed by local insight and professional experience.
